Warn Oil Pan Skid Plate - Reviews

Customer Rating 1/8" is way too thin...

Had one on a TJ. The first time on the trail, it bent into a wave and sheared off a bolt head. Also be careful with a lift. The driver's side front support goes UNDER the front driveshaft. I cut and welded the support way up and over the driveshaft, but had nasty issues with the yoke impacting it. It's 2/3 the price of the Skid Row plate (which is 7/16" and a much better mounting design).

Customer Rating Too Thin

Metal is lower grade and thin. Will not hold up after a hard direct hit. It is more of a psychlogical plate.

Customer Rating This skid has done it's job for the money.

It survived wheeling a stock TJ on 30" tires around Ouray, CO on rocky trails. It did take a ding on a tight trail in Wyoming. Just recently I tried to cross over a log and it ended up bending the skid slightly, but it's just fine and will continue to work. So far I've just taken some black spray paint to it!

Customer Rating Ok product

This was one of my first upgrades and I did go the cheaper route and have paid for it as well. The product is made out of very thin steel and although it has done it's job it also has bent quite a bit to where I can barely stick my hand in between the skid plate and oil pan to get to the oil pan drain bolt. I also had to modify the skid and cut away a part of it because it rubbed my front driveshaft. I would not recommend this product if you plan on mashing on it.

Customer Rating Does the job

This skid plate had paid for itself about 100+ times over.

My only complaint is that it is tough to change your oil with it on. I alleviated this problem by installing the fram drain pluch that you can attach a hose to. Badda bing, problem solved.

PS skid plate is bahed and bruised but it has held up (that's wht it's there for)

Customer Rating Glad I had it, wish I had bought something else though

I bought this last month, after mounting I had to adjust my exhaust manifold to stop the seriouly rattles. Took my jeep wheeling the following weekend and hit a rock pretty good on the skid. While the skid did its job and prevented my oil pan from becoming a tin foil ball, the skid is now concaved and is impossible to change the oil with the skid on. I am going to have to pull it and bang it out, and then weld some reinforcements on it. Save your money and buy something else.

Customer Rating Warn oil pan skid plate

Nice skid plate, has held up well to mild abuse. The design seems to be taken from a Mopar piece? The Mopar piece is cheaper and also is a single piece unit. The Warn is mutli braket piece.... but I am not sure which of the 2 designs is technically better...... perhaps the Warn offers easier disassembly when neccessary to remove?
