Skyjacker 2" Coil Spacer Lift Kit - Reviews

Customer Rating Basic BB

Installed on my 06 Rubicon, gave me the 2" of extra lift that i wanted (so i could clear 265/75r16) Before kit id bottom out on every bump and at full articulation. Surprisingly enough the lift helped with artic rub. without doing the washer trick. Directions were very basic / bad. PB Blaster 24hrs beforehand is a must (i didnt and paid for it through grinding my old shocks off and breaking a few studs off in random places....nightmare), Only downfall is i got the Hydro shocks when i prob. should've got the Nitro shocks (Rubi's come stock with Nitro shocks). Its a BB, plastic pucks, they're all the same.......

Gave it an 8 because the Hydro shocks arent as rugged as i wanted and the directions were worthless.

Side note: A friend of mine has had this same exact lift on his 03 Rubi for 6 yrs and still has not had a single problem with shocks or suspension / driveline.

Customer Rating SJ BB lift is a waste of money

Terrible lift kit. The pucks slide around so much that you can feel the play on the highway. When articulating it causes an improper angle for the springs. The shocks blew out on me after 5 months due to poor design. The seal on the SJ shocks will never last. Don't waste your money or time with this kit. It will only cause head aches and force you to spend more money. Save for a real lift kit.

Customer Rating First time ever installing a lift...

I have read through several of the reviews and half of them are crap with people not knowing what they are talking about. It was a full day worth of work and it was around 50 degrees outside. First I would like to say the instructions were pretty easy to follow. You will need to get a couple of drill bits so read before you get started. Easy enough, the front actually took a little longer than the rear just because of the position to drill the rear track bar. I have had no issues and it rides pretty solid.

Installed about 3 times. Off centered axles due to track bar now being too short. Called SJ and ordered bracket which then cause the axles to off center the other side. Cost another 100..Next took it to 4x doctor..adjustable track bar..300 each...Took Sky Jacker kit off, It is in my trash where it belongs! Total Scam!!!!

Customer Rating Worst everything seriously

I am appalled at how bad my 4 new shocks are (blown from the factory). Now skyjacker wants me to send the shocks from Portland, OR to Louisiana so they can see if the bad shocks are bad or if I just want to not have the use of my jeep for a few weeks. Awesome can I borrow your jeep in the mean time? DO NOT BUY SKYJACKER

Did the lift in about a day with no previous knowledge and minimal tools. Best advice is to make sure you have stands so the whole front is off the ground, no doing one tire at a time. Spring compressors were a must for me but all in all it went in pretty well. If you live in a climate that uses salt make sure you hit the bolts on your shocks with penetrating oil A LOT. My buddy did the same kit and sheared off two out of the four bolts for the rear shocks. If you drive yours daily you don't want to have to deal with this. Nitro shocks are as hard as they say but sitting on my 32" BFG KM/2's can't say that I care.

The price is right with this one. I went to a shop just to see how much they would have charged me. $1000. ya, no thanks. i did it myself with 2 jackstands and a heavyduty floor jack. 2 1/2 hours later i was sitting pretty. !!!! words of experience. torque everything down that you took off. i didnt and i had the death wobble when i hit 40 mph!! all in all good tho.

Customer Rating Hard work for 2in lift (tools needed SIX-PACK)
Date: Sep 29, 2008
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Oneida, TN)
I have put on a similar lift on a 99 Tracker. This one was definitely tougher to put in. The instructions are ok. I thought my coil spring compressors would make things easier...they just got in the way. You must loosen the sway bar no other way. The front took me 5.0hrs and the rear 1.5hr. It was just me putting it in. Having a friend help would be a plus. If anyone quotes installation under $250.00, IT'S WORTH IT!!! Because more than likely you will strip a bolt or need a tool. Skyjacker Nitro Shocks SUCK! Lift is just right. Oh yeah, a six-pack pack after will be needed for the busted knuckles and back pain.

Its a good lift that gave my 05' Wrangler X a little bit more of a mean look to it. Took a couple hours to put on not counting all the beer, B/S, and other breaks we took pluss the lift was given to me by a friend.....but over all its a good one compaired to the other 2" coil spacer lifts

Customer Rating Installs not too bad

I just installed this lift today and the only problems i had were removing old front shocks. But once i got my sawzall out things went way smoother. The other problem was installing springs without a compressor. A good pry bar is an asset. Looks great and rides great too....Good luck to all.

Customer Rating Great lift

Like most of us jeepers i daily drive my rig. I opted for the hydro shocks, and it was a good choice. They are a little stiffer then stock. My truck looks great with my 32's. Instructions suck, might as well trow them out, and go on line.

Customer Rating 2" spacer lift

I recently installed the Skyjacker 2" spacer lift on my 2005 Wrangler. It was fairly easy to install, but the instructions were not very detailed. It does give my Jeep the slightly higher look that I wanted.

Customer Rating Good value, quick and easy lift!

Once you decide on the "budget" lift, its only a matter of installing it "DIY" style. This one is pretty easy, if you can change oil, you can do this lift. At purchase, you'll have a choice of the softer riding Hydro shocks versus the stiffer Nitro shocks, and an argument can be had for both. A quick call to the Skyjacker poeple can make your decision easier. Personally, I chose the Hydros for the softer ride, as my rig is still pretty much an on-road vehicle, occasional off-road. I wasn't disappointed in my decision as the Hydros provide a similar ride to stock, possibly a tad stiffer, but not the tooth-jarring ride you'd expect. As for install, it will take anywhere from 2-4 hours, and being prepared with the right tools will get you done sooner than later. The only "special" tools needed to make the job easier might be a spring compressor for those front springs after you get the spacer in. That was the most difficult part of the job for me, as I had no spring compressors. Its doable without, but you'll save some time compressing those springs.
The instructions included were kind of lame, to put it nicely. I had to make a call to the Skyjacker people mid-install to make sure I was doing it right, but the nice and friendly customer service people assured me I was doing it right. A couple of online write-ups were also available that will definitely make your life easier. Do a search or ask on your favorite forum and you'll find plenty.
The only problems I encountered were a slight driveline vibration from 0-10 mph, but it was quickly resolved by placing a few washers between the frame and the skid plate or the purchase of the Skyjacker transfer case lowering kit (I chose the latter option).
I give the Skyjacker 2" coil spacer BB 8 stars, with the only drawback the less than desireable instructions and the slightly higher price over the Rubicon Express package.
