Red Rock Canyon JJ - 2004
Date: Oct 13, 2004
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Escondido, CA)

This is not your average JJ. You stay in the Lady Luck Casino & Hotel in the north end of Las Vegas, less that one block from Fremont Street. The LL is old and somewhat run down but clean. The food is average. The casino is smoke filled and you have to go through it to go anywhere in the hotel. I give the hotel 4 stars and the food 5 stars. However, I give the trails 8 stars and the Vegas Valley 4-Wheelers Club 10 stars. The trails are about one hour north of town. There are several easy scenic trails. There are also two difficult trails, which I rate an "8" on the JJUSA rating system. To run "Rock Bottom" or "The Bowl" you should have 33" or 35" tires, lockers, 4.10 or 4.56 R&Ps & full skids. Expect minor body damage, flat tires and using a strap. The spotters from the Vegas Valley 4-Wheelers Club were outstanding. My hat is off to spotters Rick, Russ and Jenny. The rep from JJUSA was Annie McCarthy who did a masterful job of coordinating events at the casino and on the trails 60 miles away. Not an easy task. This JJ presents a series of interesting contrasts, and for that reason I plan to do it again. I have also done the following JJs: Rubicon Trail, Moab, Big Bear, Sea of Cortez, Canyon de Chelly etc.
