Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK Reviews
The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited was originally launched in 2004. It started out as a two-door Jeep with a wheelbase 10 inches longer than a typical Wrangler. The original two-door Unlimited was dubbed the "LJ." In 2007, Jeep revised the Unlimited and turned it into a four-door. This 4-door Jeep was dubbed the "JK."
The longer wheelbase on the Jeep Unlimited provides more room for your passengers/cargo and a smoother ride (when compared to the shorter Wranglers).

Summary:
I was having the same stuttering problems as others, every time I hit a bump the steering wheel would shake and vibrate violently. I called the dealership and took it right in, they immediately knew that the problem was the steering damper. They said that the vehicle was not road worthy but still wanted to send me home with it but to "drive slowly" after they informed me this can happen so severely that you can lose control of the vehicle. I persuaded them to give me a loaner, which thankfully they did.
I also had a strange experience with the horn beeping. Both key fobs were in my possession at the time so i know no one was playing a prank on me. We opened the hood and check for loose connections, but all was ok. The beeping was random, not like the alarm was going off.. it stopped as suddenly as it started.. any ideas?
Strengths:
FUN!FUN!FUN!
Weaknesses:
only two years old and having mechanical issues..... :(

Summary:
I purchased my 09 unlimited in mid July. Just over 4,000 miles i started to experience a stuttering, idiling, not really sure what to call it when I am at a red light or just stop with the jeep running. This happens throughout the entire driving time from the moment I start it to the moment I turn it off. I also have an annoying vibration, it almost feels like I am going over rumble strips, while I am driving. I can feel it through the steering wheel and the floor. My blower fan went out the same week these problems started and the check engine light came on 2 times the first week I bought it. The dealership has done nothing the last 4 times I have had it in there for these problems and say that everything is fine. I took it to my own mechanic who drove it for an entire week and he felt everything that I feel and says there is definitely something wrong with it. The dealership told me it was bad gas the first time I had it in, the following three times they either said they could no duplicate what I was describing or they felt it and it was fine. I cant even stand to drive it anymore!!!!!!!!Anyone else had any similar issues with this model??
Strengths:
its a jeep!!!
Weaknesses:
Problems that I am having right now. You dont buy a jeep for a "luxury vehicle" but its not supposed to be a dump truck either!

Summary:
I will never own another jeep or Chrysler ever again had this jeep in the shop several times for the brakes and the last time it was in the shop 4 times for the front end shaking every time i hit a bump. Finally they found out what was wrong with it after they had to take it to another town and still no recall notice on it it was the damper in steering. I recked the jeep and chrysler said that it was not the problem and no i have to get the body fixed. If you ask me i have a lemon.

Summary:
I bought the first year of the 4 door with the 3.8 mated to a 6 speed trans. So far, the trans went out and the dealership replaced all the syncros in it. The second time the trans went out, they completely replaced it. The vehicles thrown two P0300 codes with the dealership not finding anything concrete. Two days after the 2nd code, the pressure plate went out, so out came the tranny again. While in the dealership for this episode, they discovered the left rear axle seal leaking quite a bit so it got fixed. A week or two later, it went back to the dealer for oil running down the front of the engine. It was discovered that the intake manifold was leaking so they had to repair it. The vehicle has yet to see 26K miles on it and is my wifes (who is not a 4 wheeler by any means). This is our 4th jeep and the only one that's been a lemon. We still have our 92 cherokee which has 177K on it and still on its original clutch. When the warranty runs out on this new one, its definitely trade in time on something, anything but another Chrysler product. Just wondering if anyone out there has had as much of an experience with this new style of jeep as my wife and I've had? (or would like to buy this one?)
Strengths:
So far, the radio still works and the spare tire is holding air.
Weaknesses:
I'd have to say the engine, transmission, electrical system and rear differential have all had their moments. Thank goodness none of these are critical components for making the vehicle actually run......
