A good Boat Anchor
Date: Feb 12, 2007

This winch started out doing simple jobs like pulling cars on semi uneven ground not deep mud. AFTER the first 12 to 14 pulls the spring holding the brake assembly went south. Keeping in mind I paid 700.00 bucks for this landfill item, i replaced the bake assembly (they wont sell you the spring alone, imagine that) 165.00 later it lasted about 8 pulls with a new assembly, this time another part of the NEW assembly broke. THIS WINCH IS TOTAL CRAP!!!BUY A WARN OR SUPERWINCH!Read the label made in CHINA! Even closer examination will reveal it is only a jazzed up Harbor Freight winch.

Slow but extremely effective

I think this winch is great. I realize that it is a little slow, but when you get stuck going slow is better than not going at all. I think that for the money, this winch is a great deal. It can definitely say that it has plenty of power, because I was able to pull and F250 diesel out of the mud with it no problem, once my tires found a nice root to hang on to. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you are on a budget, this thing is the way to go.

Tried and True
Date: Feb 25, 2005
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Orlando, FL)

I've had this winch for over a year now and had to use it at least 20 times. Never failed, never overheated and still going strong. With a single red top battery I have never had any draining problems (although I do not believe I ever winched without the Jeep running). Would highly recommend this item. This winch is slower than other models, but I think of that as a safety feature, and this winch will stop on a dime when you release the button!

Contol Falls Apart

Have the pistol grip controller - rocker switch falls apart. Otherwise appears to work ok.
