Good skid if you don't have a body lift |

I don't have a body lift on my 05 Rubicon and this was the only gas tank skid I could find that did not require a body lift.
It installs over the stock gas tank skid and is up against the bottom of the stock skid so it gives good protection in spite of the fact that it is a little thinner metal than other brands.
You don't gain any ground clearance like you do with other brands but you don't have to drop the tank like you do with other brands. It is a very easy install. |

This was the first gas tank skid I ran, and I just took it off to install a Kilby gas tank skid. I bashed the heck out of the skid row and it took it all in stride. I did bend the mounting brackets, fyi they are 3/16" steel but my gas tank perservered unscathed! I ordered replacement brackets from skid row. The bent brackets was not a flaw in design or inferior material, like I said I simply beat on it. The skid fits over the stock gas tank skid so there is no need to drop the tank. I ran this because at the time I purchased this I did not have a 1" BL that is required to run the Kilby on 03+ Jeeps. I have since added a 1" BL and thus upgraded to a Kilby. The skid row hangs rather low for my taste, but a good overall product. SR's customer service is great, I called and left a message on sunday when I was inquiring about their products and they promptly returned my call on Mon morning. I would recommend a skid row to anyone not running a BL. |
