Interco TrXus MT Tires - Reviews

Customer Rating Good all around tire!!!
Date: Jul 14, 2010
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Tucson, AZ)
Good tires, work well in all conditions. Gave 8 stars due to soft tread compound, may wear prematurely, my tires only have 15-20k on them so its to early to tell. Out of the 4 tires purchased 2 tires had under 10lbs roadforce and 2 had over 25lbs. Not bad for 33x12.5x15 tires. Yes they are difficult to balance and need to be balanced about every 10k (support your local tire shop), but in return you get a tire that grips like mad with 10- 12lbs of air on the trail, then'll run down the freeway at 34lbs with no major noise or vibrations to make it home by dinner. 4X4NDAD on F/B

Customer Rating Great for the money

I've been running these now for a few months and have been very happy with them. With regards to the balancing issues people have had issues with. I did standard tire balancing and they took some weights, switched out to balancing beads and have been very happy every since. No more balance issue. Just rotate every oil change to keep wear even.

Customer Rating Best for the mall crawler inside all of us

I picked these tires only for the fact that they look tough as hell and can still be a daily drive tire and boy they work great on anything Iowa has hit me with yet. Now A lot of people are having trouble with the balancing of the tires but...I just had my Old High school auto teacher help me put em on and they work just fine...maybe he knows somthing I don't but 31x10.5 on a 97 wrangler fits just like a glove and no rubbing even with no lift!

Customer Rating Balance yea right

I have the 33x12.50-16`s on my 08 Wrangler(4door). The tire`s are real good off road. Better on the rock`s than the mud. To me they do not clean out very good. On the road in the rain I was really surprised how they cut through the water. But I am having the same problem as a lot of others are having with the Balancing of the tires. It took 7 tires to get 4 that would not shake the jeep to death. I still have a shake but it is one that I can live with. Will be going to BFG`s next time.

Customer Rating Great off-road tire for DD
Date: Aug 11, 2008
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Bothell, WA)
Trxus MT is the best overall off-road tire I've driven. Traction in mud and on rock is very good. The tires dig and track very well and don't hydroplane at all. They're also good in sand, snow and on wet roads. They were fair on ice, but I had them siped and saw a noticable improvement. I've siped all of my MT tires, and these tires are the best on-road as well as off-road. The only negative is they take alot of weight to balance. But, balance they do. I currently have 30,000 miles on them and will probably replace them in the next year.

Customer Rating Best MT ever made!!
Date: Apr 13, 2008
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Cincinnati, OH)
I have had this tire for about 3 months. This is the best mud tire ever made. I have owned many different brands of mts and these are the best. They ride so well on the road, and they are wearing extremely well. The only problem I had is they are hard to balance so I bought some dynabeads and that fixed the problem. I swapped out the pro comp mts with these and my ride instantly improved. These tires are like shocks, they absorb bumps. Also, offroad these things are great. Best money I have ever spent.

Customer Rating Problem Tires
Date: Dec 20, 2007
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Calgary, Canada)
I have a set of 37" trXus mt on my 07 dodgeram 2500 sport with 6" superlift lift. After having them balanced 6 times, replacing the rears, still have vibration/bounce issues. Below 50mph they are fine, anything above that and the truck bounces horribly. After having driveshaft angle checked, driveline checked, then running the stock tires...Ive concluded the problem is the tires.

Customer Rating TrXus m/t's set the standard
Date: Nov 30, 2007
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Portland, OR)
I've worn out nearly every other brand and design, they lack mud traction only when compared to a swamper/bogger, are awesome on ice, snow, rutted pavement filled with water, yet make less noise than my toyo m/t's on the suburban. they do it all and do it well. most balancing issue with them are operator error on the installers part.

Customer Rating Excellent tire both on and off road!

I run the 34x12.5R15 on my 2000 TJ and am very pleased with them for a daily driver that can cruise down the freeway and also seriously kicks butt off the pavement. No balancing problems using sticky weights. On 8" rims the tread width is about 10", which results in a nice comprimise that yields all the benefits of a tall, skinny tire but with enough width to be a floatation tire in deep muck, snow, or sand.

Customer Rating TrXus balancing problems
Date: Nov 14, 2006
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Jasper, Texas)
I bought a set of 31X10.50/15 TrXus M/T's. They are outstanding for traction and great for a trail rig but, I could never get them balanced for road use.

I had them rebalanced about 12 times in the 14K miles I had them and all that ever happened was the out of balance speed would move from 50 to 60 or back to 45 or whatever. After 14K miles I got so aggravated that I dumped them and bought BFG M/T's and never had a problem with the balance on them.

Customer Rating Very sticky and great for rocky trails

Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Denver, CO)
Just removed the Goodyear MTR's also a great tire for all around use. I changed to the Swampers for my upcoming Rubicon trail run and boy am I glad I did. Aired the 37"'ers down to 12#'s on a 15" rim and right away noticed they were much smoother on the rough stuff and didn't seem to slip even when the rocks had a layer of dust or sand on them. At the end of the day lost my ARB compressor seal and so would have to run the rest of the trail open. Something I was not looking forward to based upon others whom had run the trail before. Glad to say they stuck and grabbed better than I was used to with the previous MTR's. Made the 2nd half of the trail with no assistance and was a real point and shoot situation. The only drawback was a bad vibration that limited top speed to 75mph and some pretty good sidewall wear from the sluices. Bottom line, very sticky tire and smooth on and offroad ride, may wear out with lots of street use quicker than the MTR's.

Customer Rating WOW! Great All around Tire!
Date: Aug 06, 2006
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Southern, Oregon)
Just put a set of 33's on my 02 Sahara DD/Weekend trail runner. These tire perform awsome in just about every terrain- even on the street they are decent for a mud tire-better than most.

My Jeep sees a variety of terrains on the trail runs we do in Southern Oregon/Nor Cal. From rocks to muddy trails to sand dunes- no complaints. These get better grip than my BFG MT's did and have a much thicker sidewall! Cheaper too.

Will give an update on milage when have on for about 5k or so. These are a softer compound than most so I don't expect 50k out of them, but should at least get 30k or so- traction is way better than my buddy's Jeep with GY Wrangler MT's.

Customer Rating TrXus. . . Outstanding Mud Tire
Date: Jun 23, 2006
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Worcester, MA)
I have a set of 33x12.5 's on a YJ. Run about 28psi on the road and 11-14psi off road. These tires are QUIET for a mud tire. They took some wieght as any 33 inch mud tire will- but they seem to be staying balanced- I will keep them rotated religiously though. Not sure about the tread wear- but it is a mud tire- probably only get 30K out of them anyway.

These tires do it all. Mud, rocks, trails in the woods, rainy pavement. They handle incredibly well on the road for a mud tire. If you are looking for a mud tire that is for a daily driver or weekend warrior- check these out. Can't beat the performance and durability for the money. MTRS are way louder than the TrXus's. I'm not sure MTRS even come close to the capability of this tire.

Customer Rating Best All-Terrain Mud Tire without a prescription
Date: Jul 23, 2005
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Riverside, CA)
The Interco TrXus MT is my 2nd Intero product. I owned a set of 32" TSL-SX tires, and the on-road ride and mileage of this bias-ply tire were miles apart from the smooth-riding, quiet TrXus MT. While the TSL-SX tackled most of the Southwest like a champ, their on-road mileage suffered, providing roughly 22,000 miles of trouble-free usage.

So far, with my TrXus MTs, I have been able to scale the top of massive sand dunes at Oceano SVRA, back into a muddy bog and strap up & pull out a disabled 2WD Toyota pickup, rock crawl in Calico and Big Bear w/o any tire failures, and get me to work on Monday morning.

Unlike the TSL-SX tires, the TrXus MTs are a quiet(er) alternative, providing a stable, sure-footed ride on rain-covered pavement. The generous siping provide an extra level of grip on granite while the soft rubber compound also lends a helping hand when in the rough stuff.

These tires are not invincible, however. I have owned two which did not balance properly, but any heavy mud-terrain tire will have balance issues after 30,000 mi. of abuse.

My TrXus MTs have 30,000 miles on them, and look ready to accept another ~8,000 miles before being replaced...by another set of TrXus MT tires for my Tomb Raider-edition Rubicon.

Customer Rating TrXus is great tire....33x12.50
Date: Sep 22, 2004

I can't praise this tire enough. Great traction on rocks, good traction in mud, and nice street manners.
I put the sidewalls to the test in Katemcy and Gray Rock and had no problems.
On the street, they are quiet for a Mud tire. They grip well in the rain and handle just fine on dry pavement. I like them much better than my old BFG ATs and a good bit better than my Master Craft Courser MTs.
Just a great all-round tire.

Customer Rating TrXus MT's: Great tire for both off & on the road (31x10.5)
Date: Sep 21, 2004
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Cherry Hill, NJ)
The TrXus M/T's are a great tire period. I run them on an a daily driver '01 TJ, 31x10.5" size.

Looks: First thing you notice is the aggressive sidewall tread. It's a really nice looking tire, which I've received many compliments on.

Offroad: They've peformed flawlessly in every terrain I've had the chance to take them on; mud, sand, water..they chug right though.

On-road: They ride suprisingly very good despite such aggressive tread & big lugs. In fact I think they softened up the ride a bit. When coming to a stop you will feel the lugs 'walk' some, but it's not bad. Part of the swamper family, they can at times be hard to balance & keep balanced, so far I haven't had any problems in this area. Also, I recently did a 7+ hour trip to the OuterBanks with them, road the beach all week & then did the return trip...again, these tires did awesome.

Noise: Obviously they'll be noisier than any street tire, but it's not overbearing by any means. Most Jeeps you won't notice them much over the wind noise. (Actually I like the slight hum they have ;-)

Price: Ive found them to be cheaper than BFG's or GY's of the same size. My 31's ran 105/tire.

Mileage: They're made of soft compound so don't expect a ton of mileage out of them. Some have reported 30~40k with good rotation's (every 3k or so) while others were dead at 16k.

I highly recommend this tire & would definitely buy them again. For the price they're hard to beat.
