This has been a wonderful starting lift on 35" ProComps for 3 years. There were problems. These were addressed with upper and lower front adjustable control arms and front and rear adjustable track bars, and Anti-rock sway bar. I now have a 1" body lift and a belly-up kit.
I was the only one to drive up in my "trail ride" on Drummond Island. Few kits have it all this is a learn and grow kit at a reasonable price. Now I'm considering 36's for the next tires. |

If you're concerned about post-lift ride quality, in comparison to stock this is the lift to get. Easy install. Clear instructions. The only problem i had was a mislabeled swaybar disconnect kit. but outside of that great lift!! |

I just installed this lift in my 1997 TJ. It was my first time doing a lift. It was pretty easy. If your not afraid of a little drillin' or cuttin', this is the best kit for the money. We didn't follow the sometimes fuzzy directions to a tee. Like disconecting the front lower control arms @ the alinment points. No way, we diconected where the control arms met the frame. No alignment needed after install! To be truthful we had the use of a lift and air tools, that made it way easier. The ride is very close to factory on road, and more responsive off road. |

I started working on the install of the Black Diamond 3inch lift kit on a Friday evening and finished it just after lunch on the Saturday; it took me approximately 11 hours working alone which is not bad I guess since it was the first time I had done anything like this.
The instructions are ok but for me they lack detail and full explanation. The best example of this is when you get to install the offset cam bolt/washers in the rear upper control arms. The instructions say using the appropriate tool, remove the knock outs, well I would like to know what the tool is because it is virtually impossible to remove them. I ended up drilling and filing out the holes, which took at least an hour and a half. The instructions say use a hacksaw or similar to cut the front sway bars; using a hack saw would take for ever and wear you out; I used an angle grinder and it took about two minutes to cut and clean up each arm.
A decent list of tools would be handy also; for example you need an angled head drill to drill the two 5/16 holes in the rear track bar bracket. Luckily I knew this already because a friend of mine had to do the same thing on his lift kit. And what is an Angle Finder? At this point in time I still dont know; I had to use a cardboard template to compare the angle of the drive shaft.
My biggest concern right now is the steering; once I completed the install, I found that with the front wheels pointing straight ahead, my steering wheel is turned half way to the right; I have no idea why. I figured I would rent a pitman arm puller and pull the arm off then re-align it; WRONG! There was no way that sucker was going to budge even though my Wrangler is only a year old and I drenched it in oil overnight. I am now hoping that when I have the vehicle aligned that they will be able to fix it. If not I will buy a new arm and angle grind a slot in the old one to get it off.
All in all though I am very happy with my lift. The 3 inch lift is actually 3-5/8 at the moment, which is great, and even if it settles I will still have a good 3 inches plus lift. My 33 X 12.5 Baja Claws are arriving next week (to replace my 30 inch tires) and I will have a total lift of five inches.
The Black Diamond 3 inch lift is the best value out there and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone together with this advice: plan ahead and make sure you have all the tools necessary to complete the lift.

Great lift! Rides beautiful and gives you a little less than 4 inches for a 3 inch kit. A top quality lift. The front sway bar links could be better and rely on your existing links to be in good shape. If your stock links are good, than you will have no problems. A lifetime warranty and they have excellent support and are in no hurry to get you off the phone. Clears 33's no problem. Would definetely recommend this kit to others. Best bang for your buck. |

LOVE THIS LIFT! 3" and I can clear 33's on my 02 TJ, Great customer service- called the manufacturer directly- they sent stock length front shocks by mistake- they overnighted the correct length- at their expense!!!
Easy install, no settling yet- 2 years on my jeep!
Awesome flex for only a 3" lift- great value for $525 including their XT schocks!
Would definitely purchase from this manufacturer again!

I think this lift is great! It only took me about 9 hours to install it myself and the instructions were good. I've had it on now for about 2 yrs and it hasn't settled much at all and flexes really well. I recently installed a winch and it dropped the front 1/4". In my opinion this is the best lift on the market for the price. |

This kit is one of the least expensive and in my opinion the best "Bang for the buck."
It took a full day to install it but that is because we installed other items with the kit (SYE, new control arms, pittman arm, and a beefier steering system)
I ran into no problems installing the kit and the instructions we very straight forward. I did not install the transfer case lowering parts as I had a new driveshaft made and did the slip yoke eliminator at the same time. (There were some driveline vibrations before we had the new driveshaft done.) I decided not to install the sway bar disconnects that came with the kit as I already had the JKS Manufacturing ones.
Off road this kit flexes very well. There has been about 1/2 inch of coil settling and I recently installed a winch and the rake of my Jeep is now normal. (the front coils are pre stressed to include the weight of a winch)
I'm very pleased this kit and would highly reccomend it to anyone on a tight budget. |
