Pro Comp All Terrain Tires - Reviews

Customer Rating Another customer with out of round tires

Decent all around tire if you can deal with a shaking truck after 9000 miles... Would not buy their tires again. Spoke with Pro Comp on phone and bottom line. Will do nothing, stuck with them. evidently I'm not the only one...

Customer Rating Tire looks great but drives terrible
Date: Apr 11, 2013
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Sarasota, FL)
I had these tires on 2004 tundra, two tires had to be replaced immediately because they would not balance. Like an idiot, I bought a second set when I lifted my 2008 Tundra. These tires from day one shook my steering wheel and made the truck vibrate. Had the tires re-balanced 5 times over two years even with rotating them religiously every 5000 miles. Took tires back to 4 wheel parts store after seeing that one tire sidewall was splitting badly. They inspected the tires and replaced all 4 noting that 3 tires had sidewall splitting and one tire was badly out of round.

New tires were installed and on way home, it was apparent that tires were still shakingy steering wheel. Drove home and had my local off road shop re-balance the tires at which time it was obvious that two of the tires were out of round while on the balancer. Called back to 4 wheel parts and was able to have the tires replaced with Toyo Open Country A/T II. I watched as all four tires balanced out to .00. The ride home on the Toyo Open Country A/T II was nearly emotional as my truck has not driven that smooth since the day I drove it off the dealership lot brand new.
I must say that 4 wheel parts stores customer service is excellent but Pro Comp tires are garbage. I will never own another Pro Comp tire as long as I live.

Customer Rating Best Tire
Date: Oct 26, 2011
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Maine)
I've had these tires on my Nissan for over 4 years now and put over 50,000 miles on them and they still have about 1/4 tread. I wanted one set of tires that would be aggressive in the winter months and wear well in the summer months. When I change the oil in the car, the tires get rotated; it's a little extra work, but it doesn't really take any extra time. Since I have gotten the tires, my car hasn't had an alignment and the tires are still wearing well. I wanted to make sure that these tires would last me at least a couple years, and I have gotten way more than I expected. They handle well in all conditions, but do kick up some rocks. Will buy again!

Customer Rating Out of Round
Date: Nov 27, 2010
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Sacramento, CA)
The tires are great in the snow and as of yet not too noisy but I have less than 2000 miles on them and they have been ballanced 5 times. I have taken them to 4 different tire stores, Americas tire co, Less Schwab, Big O and 4 wheel drive parts who installed the tires the first time. All but 4 wheel drive parts say they are out of round and cant be ballanced. 4 wheel drive parts says there is nothing wrong, They DO NOT TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS, HONOR THE WARRANTY,or keep their word. I have sent an e-mail to Pro Comp and hope they will help. We will see

Customer Rating Weak side wall

Side wall ruptured after 11,000 miles. Pro Comp would not replace. Worked well in snow and rain but did not last as long as they should have.

Customer Rating Great tire

33" x 15 on a 2003 dakota 5.9. These are great tires. Second set I've bought / first set was on my v8 ranger. In my Dakota I have blasted through three feet of snow driving down the middle of the street in what the plow left behind. I drive about 130k a day and they are very smooth on the highway. great in rain or snow.

Customer Rating Top notch A/T
Date: Dec 06, 2008
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (South Carolina)
At about 30,000 miles on the Pro Comps I have had very good results so far. My size is 30x9.50 15 on a Jeep XJ. The tires are wearing slow and even and I've had them rotated and balanced 3 times so far. Traction is awesome in the schizophrenic South Carolina weather, eh, "patterns" that I live in from 104 degree asphalt to around 6" of snow. The sidewalls seem very resilient and are scraped up in several places, but they shrug off wear nicely. My only comlpaint is that Pro Comp tout's the A/T's "deep siping" in their ads, but this is only partly true. I have noticed that only two sipes per block are actually siped to full depth (and it's a half-assed siping - not the full width). However, that quirk could just be limited to my size or load range, but I will guess that it is the same with every size. Even though this may irritate me, the tires have not shown me any difference in their performance. Awesome tire! *Side note: I bought these tires during a "Buy 3 Get 1 Free" deal and I did notice that the price of each tire skyrocketed about 30 to 50 bucks per tire (depending on size and the prices traced back about 6 months) but it did work out to be slightly better than paying full price. Just wanted to say I've got my eye on you Pro Comp!!

Customer Rating 35x12.5x17 procomp A/T's
Date: Oct 08, 2008
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Westland, Michigan)
Bought a set with procomp wheels 2 1/2 years ago. Rotated every 6000 miles and have had no problems. Have over 60000 miles on them now with good tread left. Do alot of highway driving and run great. Little noise. Good in rain and snow. Haven't used much in mud. Recommend them if looking for A/T's. Have had several sets of BFG's and compare pretty equal to wear and performance.

Customer Rating 2500 Dodge 4x4 Quad Cab Hemi
Date: Jun 12, 2008
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Anna, Illinois)
I bought my 3/4 ton Dodge pickup about 3 years ago, used, and it had a new set of Pro Comp A/T 33x12.5x17's on it. I was hoping to get pretty good mileage and decent wear and I was pleasently surprised on both. When doing the speed limit (which is hard with the hemi and 5 speed manual) I get 13.5 mpg (not bad for a large 4x4 with 3" body lift) and I just turned 60,000 miles on that set of tires. EXCELLENT overall tire. Been to and from the east coast to the west coast with absolutely no problems. I am now looking at replacing them with LT265/70R17 with a load range E, am putting a slip on camper on the back and will be planning on getting another 60,000 miles out of the tires. Hope the truck will outlast the tires!! Any negative comments about these tires has to be because of vehicle problems. I use my truck on and off the road, not real rough, but I don't baby it too much either. Buy these tires, you won't be disappointed....Dan from Illinois.

Customer Rating A Good Economical Tire
Date: Feb 03, 2008
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Southwest, VA)
These were on my 04 wrangler when i bought it, put 16000 on them before i replaced, front tires cupped after 1500 miles, and front end was aligned, talked to procomp and said it was my jeep not the tires, did good on the road and rain on the farm they suck, if the ground was aeven a little bit wet they would spin had to engage the lockers to go anywhere in the fields and still spinning the whole time. if you want a tire to drive on the street and price then this could be it just watch the front for cupping.

Customer Rating Great Tire so far

Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Kodiak, AK)
I've own these AT's (31-9.50x15) for about 3 months and haven't had any problems with them yet. I made a trip from California to Alaska shortly after the purchase and they did great in the snow and ice they faced on the trip up north (approx 3000 mile trip). Since arriving in alaska I've taken the jeep offroad a few times and notice the biggest problem with the tires is when they encounter mud they almost instantly fill the tread into a slick. but this is an all terrian so that is expected Other than the mud problems I haven't noticed anything else to be wrong and with 5000 miles on them and the constant snow/ice/slush conditions I drive through they seem to be doing just fine. They come with a 50,000 mile warranty but I have yet to have to use that so I don't know what type of customer service I'll be facing in that department. Overall I'd say its a very good tire and would still recommend this to people.

Customer Rating Very Choppy!
Date: Nov 23, 2007
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (St. Louis, MO)
I bought a set of Pro Comp tires and I have approximately 10,000 miles on them. I have had them balance, rotated, and aligned as recommended. After 10,000 miles, they have become very rough and loud! The dealer calls them, "choppy." He says they will smooth out after about 6000 miles after being rotated and balanced. I have never had a tire do this before. It looks like I'll be buying a different tire in the future!

Customer Rating Awesome Tire on Ice or Snow
Date: Nov 20, 2007
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada)
I put 4 of the 30" x 9.5" Pro Comp AT's on my 4 x 4 Dodge Dakota pickup last December and they are superb on ice and snow. I wanted the superior traction of something that was snowflake approved but also wanted an A/T tire since we do a lot of driving on all types of roads 12 months of the year. But I did not want to be putting on something like BLIZZAKS and then taking them off in the spring. Gravel roads around here are also tough on tires like BLIZZAKS.

I have about 30,000 miles on the PRO COMP A/T's now and there is lots and lots of tread left. They should be good for 50,000 - 60,000 miles. I also carry about 400 lbs of sand near the tailgate 12 months of the year so that the rear tires do not spin and wear out tires prematurely when I am in 2 whl drive. Most trucks are pretty light in the rear end and the Dakota is certainly one of the them.

I expect that complaints about treadwear from other reviewers may be for one of two reasons.

1) Wheel spin in 2 whl drive on pickups with no weight in the box. and or

2) living in parts of North America where the pavement temperatures are a little "warmer" during spring, summer and fall than they are up here in Canada. Couple that with high speed driving and those tires are going to get very warm and soft.

Generally speaking I believe that tires that are great in the winter months are made with a softer more porous rubber that wears out quicker in the summer when temps are high.

Pro Comp Tires wore out to fast. I got just under 23,000 miles before I needed to have them replaced. DON'T waste your money on these tires!! Spend a little more and get BFG's.

Date: Jun 20, 2007
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Virginia)
I bought these tire's for my heavy truck. It rides extremely well, but there is alittle road noise at high speeds that I didn't experience with BFG's. I bought them because they are rated at high loads, with the load range E. I would have rated it at a 10, but everything has room for improvement.

Customer Rating Good Tire
Date: Feb 12, 2007
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Ontario)
I ran an MT/R before putting the ATs on and thought that that was a pretty good tire in the snow. Boy was I wrong. I've had the 33" version of this tire on since the beginning of winter and they work awesome in the snow. I have absolutely no complaints about them. I will probably end up buying another ProComp tire to run during the summer based mostly on how good this tire has been to me so far.

Customer Rating Pro comp all terrain
Date: Jun 25, 2005
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Wheeling,wv)
This tire is almost silent on the street. It has excellent on-road traction in rain and snow. Off-road this tire is much better than any of the all terrains i have had (including 3 sets of bfgs). I have ran them in upto 13 inches of snow, about 3 feet of water, a solid 9 inches of mud (might not sound like alot, but this is an all terrain), i have never takin them in rocks but with all the siping i wouldnt hesitate. They are wearing good also. BUT the siping is wearing down in spots. This is a nice tire, getting my next set next year maybe, if these ever wear out.
