If you define "best" as being strong, excellent fit and finish, and functional. Then this may be the best basic rear bumper/tire carrier on the market.
It swings opens to the left, which is unusual. But it has a locking mechanism that hold the carrier open in a 90 degree angle even when you are parked leaning to the right. Unusual, but VERY functional and helpful.
Low center of gravity adn extremely strong hinges make for a tight and squeak free carrier.
I have the LJ model, and the bumper returns under the rear quarter panels have already saved me some big $.
Not sure what to think of the corner posts. I've never backed into anything and I've nevered strapped to them to keep me from tipping. I guess in the right circumstance, they would come in handy - for now, they simply distinguish the bumper from all the others out there.
I am NOT happy with the hi-Lift carrier attachment. I can't seem to get it from squeaking so I've taken it off until i figure out a better solution. |

Got the unlimited (LJ) version . Excellent fit and finish. All the necessary hardware and instructions were there. Installation was a breeze by myself but it would be more fun with a helper.The tire carrier system is extremely robust and rattle free. I find the left side hinge to be more ergonomic and intuitive with a hold open feature that is positive yet easy to release. If fuel can mounts were offered, it would have been a perfect 10 |
